Winter draws on .....


Plenty to look forward to this winter with all our shows busy touring. In the next few days you can see 'Talbot House - a home from home' at Theatre Royal in Margate and The Spa at Bridlington (Nov 10 & 11), 'An Evening with the humour of Bob Newhart and Tom Lehrer' at The New Cut Arts Centre in Halesworth and The Rondo Theatre in Bath (Nov 13 & Dec 4). The Venue Jazz Club welcomes The J C Big Band on Tuesday November 16 and then Rod Kelly on December 7.

Summer is here!


We have a busy few weeks ahead of us now which starts this week with of course our night at the Venue Jazz Club.
This week we will be welcoming The Peter Gill Swing Band which includes Mike Cypher on drums, Mike Croshaw on Guitar, Wayne Elliot bass, Patsy Gamble on saxophones and Suzy Jacoby on vocals - an evening of ratpack inspired swing jazz.
On Thursday we have 'An Evening with the humour of Bob Newhart and Tom Lehrer' at The Colchester Arts Centre, followed by Phil Cool at the Haverhill Arts Centre on Friday June 25. The same night our new play 'Seance' will be at The Blackfriars Arts Centre in Boston with 'Killer - The Jerry Lee Lewis Story' appearing at the Alnwick Playhouse on Saturday 26. Anyone who finds themselves in Pitlochry on Sunday 27 make your way to the Festival Theatre for our 'Newhart and Lehrer' show.
One last quick mention - anyone who hasn't got their tickets for the 'Jazz on a Summer's Evening' at this year's Open Air Festival at the Tuckwell Theatre in Cheltenham should do so as soon as possible. There is some availability on July 15 - the opening of the festival, but only a handful of tickets remain for August 1st. Box Office number is : 01242 258002

Shows! Shows! Shows! and a little bit of Jazz!

Ten busy days approach with many of our shows appearing all over the country. Saturday 15th May sees 'Let The Good Times Roll' appear at The Conquest Theatre in Bromyard, Herefordshire. On Wednesday 19th Phil Cool will be at the ARC at Stockton-on-Tees and then a busy weekend ensues for the 'Newhart and Lehrer' team as on Friday 21st they can be seen at The Galtres Centre, Easingwold, Saturday 22nd at Colvend Village Hall in Dumfries and then on Sunday at The Festival Theatre in Dumfries. In between all these shows we will be hosting The Venue Jazz Club in Cheltenham on Tuesday 18th when we will be welcoming 'Zanzibar'.

Two more fabulous shows are added to our stable!


After a busy Easter that saw success in Tunbridge Wells with our 'Newhart and Lehrer' show on April 9 and then the following Friday the opening performance of our new play 'Seance' we are set for a busy and exciting spring.
In the first instance we are delighted to be able to announce that we have added two fabulous new shows to our ever increasing stable. Pasadena Roof Orchestra vocalist Catherine Sykes and her trio will be performing The Peggy Lee Songbook up and down the country for us as will classic crooner Gary Grace with his highly acclaimed 'Kings of Swing' show.
This weekend 'Let The Good Times Roll' will be appearing at The Corn Exchange in Wallingford, Oxfordshire to a sell out audience. If you have missed the tickets for that performance don't worry there are plenty more performances throughout the country this season.

Going Mad in Dorset!


After our busiest weekend so far of the year last weekend we started off this week with the fabulous Catherine Sykes and The Paul Buck Trio at The Venue Jazz Club. An outstanding evening by one of the UK's best and most stylish female jazz singers.
This weekend brings the 'Newhart and Lehrer' show down on to the south coast with performances at The Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis on Saturday and The Regent Centre, Christchurch on Sunday.

Spring is on the way!


We start our busiest week of the year as the weather clearly demonstrates that Spring it is on its way. For those of you in Hertfordshire we have two 'Newhart and Lehrer' performances. On Friday you can catch 'An Evening with the humour of Bob Newhart and Tom Lehrer' at The Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead and then on Sunday you can see it at The Wyllyots Centre in Potters Barr. If your taste is more rock n roll then we have 'Let The Good Times Roll' at the rather bizarre location of St Michael's Church in Brent Knoll near Bristol.

Patsy Gamble at The Venue Jazz Club


With it being a new month we have our regular promotion at The Venue Jazz Club in Cheltenham and this Tuesday we see the return of superb, Stroud-based saxophonist Patsy Gamble and her band. Patsy has worked with a wealth of musical talent including Mick Jagger, Steve Winwood, Ruby Turner and Snake Davis, but it is with her own band that she is best appreciated. At The venue Jazz Club she'll be performing a mix of jazz standards, funk and original material and as always it will be a night not to be missed.Remember doors open at 8 p.m.,music from 9 p.m..

'Talbot House' is up in Cumbria.


This weekend 'Talbot House - a home from home' will be performed up at The Heron Theatre, Milnthorpe in Cumbria. This is the play's first outing of this year and will see the return of Iain Barton in the role of Maurice and Graeme Budd as Frank. The play is based on the real house in Belgium which during the First World War became a haven for Commonwealth troops - a place where they could escape from the war for a few hours. This Tuesday we welcome the fabulous John Beckingham with his jazz and blues band back to The Venue Jazz Club. Another sell out show!


This week starts with news that the next 'Newhart & Lehrer' performance in Hemel Hempstead - March 12, has already sold out. For anyone hoping to have made that performance however there is no need to panic as the show will be at The Wyllyots Centre in Potters Barr two days later - Sunday March 14 (coincidentally Mothering Sunday). It is highly recommended to get tickets early as sales are also very fast there. Contact the Wyllyots box office on 01707 645005.

More good news for us here at BEP is that we are now representing the hugely talented magician and funny man, Tom Elliott. Tom was voted the 2009 Cotswold Magic Society Stage Magician of the Year and we are looking forward to working with Tom and ensuring he gets the publicity and attention he deserves. Tour goes up to the Lake District



Our top selling show of 2009 'An Evening with the humour of Bob Newhart and Tom Lehrer' will be off to the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick, Cumbria on Friday and by all accounts this sounds like it will be yet another sell out performance.
In the past week more theatres have been signing up to take our various shows for the coming season with, amongst others, 'Let The Good Times Roll' being booked for Cornwall's Sterts Theatre and Haverhill Arts Centre.
Don't forget that as tomorrow is the first Tuesday of the month we will be hosting our hugely successful 'Venue Jazz Club' at The Venue, Old Bath Road, Cheltenham when we welcome 'Dom Frank's Strayhorn'. Postbop saxophonist Dom Franks leads his new high-octane swing to funk quintet, paying tribute to Dom's favorite horn players -Sonny Rollins, Kenny Garrett and Art Pepper among them. The group features local keyboard hero Alex Steele, young JazzFM award winning guitarist Lee Jones, bassist Wayne Elliot plus special guests.

All set for the start of the new touring season.


Friday sees the start of our first tours of 2010 with 'An Evening with the humour of Bob Newhart and Tom Lehrer' featuring Peter Gill and Andy Meller playing at The Artrix in Bromsgrove. On Saturday Phil Cool kicks off his year with a visit to The Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis.
